Deploying a digital human in five steps

Before you begin: If you haven’t fully determined your digital human use case, this is the first step to a great deployment – choosing specifically what problem to solve for better success and ROI. We can help guide you, providing our experience, ideas and technical know-how to determine the jobs your digital human employees can do. 

For those on an Enterprise plan, you may choose to have a custom-built digital human. Our team will be hands on as we work with you on determining the personality, role, appearance, expressiveness, voice and other traits of your new digital employee. We can offer best practice and guidance to make sure your brand values and identity are expressed and embodied by your digital human.

  • 1. Create your digital human persona

    Follow the steps to sign up for UneeQ Creator. Create your own digital human persona – choose appearance, background, and voice.

    Test out your persona using UneeQ Creator’s ‘Try’ mode – make sure you’re happy when seeing all the elements of the persona working together.

  • 2. Preparing your conversational platform

    Your digital human’s ability to converse with you and your customers is enabled by a conversational AI platform, such as Google’s Dialogflow, IBM Watson, Amazon Lex or Microsoft Bot Framework. These platforms give your digital human the ability to understand natural language, and the ability to respond with dialog and other supporting content (such as images and text).

    UneeQ’s digital human platform is open, and can be connected to any conversational AI platform that has an API (application programming interface), so you can choose the platform that best suits your needs and environment. In the next step, you’ll connect your digital human to your conversational platform, and if you choose Google Dialogflow you can take advantage of our native integration with Dialogflow and connect through the Creator dashboard.

    If you currently don’t use conversational AI, you will have to get started with one before being able to deploy a digital human. Through our Partner Directory, we can provide some guidance on choosing a conversational platform, creating the basics of conversation, testing and creating a framework on building your digital human conversations to take on more advanced topics.

  • 3. Connecting to your conversation platform

    Once you’ve created a conversation for your digital human in your chosen platform, it’s time to connect them. 

    If you chose Google Dialogflow as your conversational AI platform, you can connect your digital human to your Dialogflow conversation without any coding, using the simplified tools built into the Creator dashboard. For other conversation platforms, a small amount of coding is required, but UneeQ has a complete set of open source code and step by step instructions that show how to do this for all the major platforms.

    We can also advise your team as you connect your digital human to your conversation platform, or we can introduce you to one of our technology partners, who you can engage directly to provide their expertise.

  • 4. Designing your user experience

    Next comes the front-end experience. You can deploy your digital human online via your website or mobile app, or “physically” through kiosks – or a mixture to create an omnichannel experience. You can also choose to work with your own UX tools within the front end, work with a third-party provider or use our built-in UX solution to deploy in just a few clicks, no coding or dev skills necessary.

    We also have available a basic open source example of a digital human interface, along with step by step instructions.

    Whatever your decisions here, we’ll provide you with our web and mobile SDKs and APIs, and will work with your developers and designers to advise on your deployment – particularly around user experience best practices, authentication flow and interaction design.

  • 5. Training and improving

    Just like how your employees are given onboarding and continuous professional development, you will want to dedicate time and resources into building your digital human’s knowledge and skills. The good news: they learn once and never forget.

    We can provide guidance and best practice on iterating your digital human for maximum impact and ROI, including improvements to your deployment, integration, front-end user experience and the conversational design within your NLP.
